SUMMARY:Boat Parade and Luminaria
DESCRIPTION:The annual kick-off activity for Scituate’s Heritage Days begins with a boat parade in the harbor. Participants are encouraged to decorate and light up their vessels. They are to convene as directed by the Harbormaster outside the harbor around 6:30pm and will then “parade” through the harbor. Viewing can be seen all along the harbor’s water’s edge. \nAt sundown\, the entire coastline will be lit with luminaries\, including the jetty into the harbor. DESCRIPTION:The Town of Scituate\, Scituate FACTS Coalition\, and South Shore Peer Recovery announce a service on International Overdose Awareness Day\, Monday\, August 31\, 2026 at 5:45am at the Old Scituate Lighthouse. \nThe Scituate service is open to all communities and will acknowledge police officers\, firefighters\, emergency room workers\, individuals in recovery\, and members of the community groups who have been working to reduce fatal overdoses and help those who still suffer. \n\nThe non-sectarian service will be led by Christina Longman\, pastor of Harbor United Methodist Church\, and will include words of remembrance from community member Samantha Rubenstein and live acoustic music. Free narcan kits\, as well as information on grief support\, substance use treatment and recovery resources\, will be available before and after the service at the resource table in the parking lot. \n11th Annual Scituate Overdose Awareness Vigil \nMonday\, August 31\, 2026 \n5:45 – 6:30am \n100 Lighthouse Road\, Scituate Harbor\, MA 02066 \nPlease arrive by 5:30am for coffee and resources in the parking lot. \nService will begin at 5:45am on the jetty.
