Our event will feature the return of our infamous Soul Train Line\, songstress and vocal dynamo Carina\, keynote address by Markaveus Barnes\, the voices of our Scholars and Art by SPS Scituate METCO Boston-Resident Scholar-Artist Leilana Sequea. \nThis day will be made more special as we present our first ever Juneteenth Hometown Hero Award. This award is bestowed upon an individual with connections to our beloved town of Scituate and who has carried out deeds positively impacting others and creating a legacy of love\, inclusion and trust. \nIn celebration of cultural heritage and shared history\, the Scituate Cape Verde Sister City Committee will be providing catered Cape Verdean appetizers for all attendees. \nOur SPS  Juneteenth celebration is more than a gathering; it is a proud declaration that we  honor freedom in all its forms and are committed to building a future rooted in love\, inclusion and trust. \nWe look forward to seeing you there!

DESCRIPTION:  \nPresentation by Lyle Nyberg\, Author \nLyle will discuss his book which explores a small tidal river that enters Massachusetts Bay between Boston and Plymouth. It is the first state-designated scenic river\, brimming with history. It survived state-approved plans to dam the river and develop its extensive salt marshes. It is a history of this storied tidal river southeast of Boston\, the people and towns connected with it\, its marshes\, and its environmental threats and promise for the future.
