SUMMARY:Scituate Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:The annual memorial day parade will step off from Town Hall at 10am and proceed down First Parish Road to Lawson Common.  The ceremony will begin at 11:15am. In the event of inclement weather\, only the ceremony will be held at the Scituate Council on Aging Building at 11am.  There is handicap parking available at the east end of the Common and on site. \nThis year’s key note speaker is the honorable Cathy Kang\, CDR\, USCG Ret.  The program will include participation by Scituate Pack 7 and BSA Scouts Troop 7\, a performance by the Gates Intermediate School Band\, and the Scituate High School Band. The flag ceremony will be conducted by the American Legion Post #144 and Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 3169

DESCRIPTION:Join Us for a Walk of Hope\, Healing\, and Community\nMay is Mental Health Awareness Month\, a time to honor those who face darkness—whether through personal mental health challenges\, supporting a loved one\, grieving a loss\, or recovering from trauma. Hearts in Motion is a heartfelt opportunity to come together as a community\, share in collective healing\, and shine a light on the journey from darkness to hope.\nThis special event is also a fundraiser for Alice’s House and JPH\, two organizations deeply committed to fostering wellness\, healing\, and transformation.\nPlease feel free to bring battery operated candles or lanterns to walk with. You may join one of the open art studios at JPH to help make lanterns and signs for the walk. The open art studios will be held on\nThusdays May 15th and 22nd from 12PM-1:30PM or\nTuesday May 20th from 6PM-7:30PM\nEvent Overview:\nParticipants will meet on Humarock Beach in front of Alice’s House at 7pm for a welcome talk and gathering. At 7:30 the group will walk the 1.25 mile route together to JPH’s retreat property\, traveling through the scenic Ferry Hill neighborhood\, which includes some steep hills and varied terrain. As we walk just at sunset along a lighted path\, we will reflect on the resilience of the human spirit and the power of community.\nThe walk will culminate in a serene candlelit meditation in the JPH Barn\, offering a moment of connection\, remembrance\, and renewal.\nTogether\, we will honor those who are navigating the challenges of mental health and loss while raising awareness for the transformative work of Alice’s House and JPH.\nEvent Details:\n📅 Date: Thursday May 29\, 2025\n📍 Starting Point: Humarock Beach in front of Alice’s House (112 Humarock Beach)\n🏁 Ending Point: JPH Barn\nParking & Transportation:\n🚗 Parking for walk available at St. Theresa’s Chapel\, within walking distance of Humarock.
