Scituate Cultural CouncilThe Scituate Cultural Council (SCC) is part of the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s(MCC) Local Cultural Council Program-the largest grassroots cultural funding networkin the nation.Each year, the MCC distributes funds tothe SCC, which grants thesefunds to local individuals, schools and organizations in support of arts, humanities, andinterpretive science projects for the benefit of Scituate residents.
The SCC is comprised of volunteers appointed by the Scituate Selectmen and areresponsible for reviewing grant applications and awarding monies.The most-recentgrant cycle awarded 13 grants, totaling $4,600, for projects benefiting the Scituatecommunity featuring a wide range of cultural disciplines, including:Cultural Educationand Exchanges ($1,600); Festivals ($850); Interpretive Sciences ($400); Literature($250); and Performing Arts ($1,500).
The SCC partnered with the Town of Scituate, the Scituate Harbor BusinessAssociation, and the Scituate Arts Association in spearheading a successful applicationprocess to obtain Cultural District designation for Scituate Harbor, and the SCC willcontinue to support the Scituate Harbor Cultural District
