The Town of Scituate, Scituate FACTS Coalition, and South Shore Peer Recovery announce a service on International Overdose Awareness Day, Monday, August 31, 2026 at 5:45am at the Old Scituate Lighthouse.

The Scituate service is open to all communities and will acknowledge police officers, firefighters, emergency room workers, individuals in recovery, and members of the community groups who have been working to reduce fatal overdoses and help those who still suffer.

The non-sectarian service will be led by Christina Longman, pastor of Harbor United Methodist Church, and will include words of remembrance from community member Samantha Rubenstein and live acoustic music. Free narcan kits, as well as information on grief support, substance use treatment and recovery resources, will be available before and after the service at the resource table in the parking lot.

Service will begin at 5:45am on the jetty. Rain or shine.
