Local Shopping Ideas

Gift certificates, once considered a last resort of weary shoppers, may be the perfect choice this year. Gifts for all ages and tastes can be found in the myriad shops and restaurants in Scituate.

Music, knitting, sewing, painting and golf lessons are perfect for many age groups. How many times have you heard someone say, “I wish I knew how to…”? Now you can make those dreams come true.

An old joke has a wife answering her husband’s question, “What are your three favorite words?” with “Let’s Eat Out!” – not the anticipated “I Love You”. We have some of the finest restaurants on the South Shore listed on our website (scituatevisitorscenter.com) and gift certificates in any amount are easily obtainable.

Front Street, North Scituate Village, Greenbush, and Humarock are awash with unique gifts. Who wouldn’t love some original art from Joye or Scituate Art Gallery, beautiful hand crafted  bowls or dishes and more at the Welch Company, or wood carvings from Kukstis Woodcarving? There is always a treasured keepsake to be found at Goodies.

The various yarns at Stacie’s Stitches in North Scituate Village make me want to start knitting for next year’s Christmas stockings. Surfers would appreciate anything from Nor’easter Surf Shop, and you can find much more than prescriptions at Scituate Health Care Pharmacy, and some delightful (and well priced) wines with plenty of tasty food choices to go with them at Board 143.

Humming Rock Gifts has a unique selection of Humarock-themed gifts and don’t forget special Scituate-themed gifts from Hennessey’s News or Scituate Marketplace.

You and I have had a difficult two years with Covid 19. Our local businesses have faced this challenge as well. Give them a break while pampering yourself at the same time.

Whatever you decide, thank you in advance for “Shopping Local.”
