Have you heard? Smithsonian Magazine named Scituate, Massachusetts as one of the Best Small Towns to Visit in its June/July 2024 issue! Are we surprised? Not really. The article highlights Scituate’s ability to reimagine the community for new generations while preserving its heritage. Who could be prouder than Scituate residents as we prepare to rededicate our iconic lighthouse after over two years of repair? Since 1811, the Scituate Lighthouse has stood proudly at the entrance of the heart-shaped harbor guiding mariners home safely. Once in the harbor, you can pop into a fancy clothing boutique, pick up a souvenir, or peruse local art in several galleries. And you’ll want to make sure you sample fresh-off-the boat meals at one of the many harbor restaurants.
But there’s much more to Scituate than her beautiful harbor. Check out the itineraries on this website to find your perfect day in Scituate. Whatever adventure you choose, you will be sure to meet locals who will happily give you tips on where to eat, shop, walk, or sit to enjoy this beautiful town. It’s the locals who truly caught the eye of Smithsonian magazine. Our “townies” and “newbies” (we caution you not to ask for a definition from anyone unless you’ve got some time!) are united in appreciating what a special place they get to call home.
